Position Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer will coordinate and expedite the design and construction of assigned machines, parts, dies, fixtures, etc. This position will interact with multiple external and internal customers, as well as outside vendors.

You will have the Opportunity to:

• Complete drawings including designing 3D models, plan views, elevation views, and detailing designs for manufacturing in all disciplines of our business
• Be involved in creating and maintaining Alaark design standards and design best practices, which will be used throughout the organization and by our customers and vendors
• Provide hands-on support on projects, as needed
• Provide feasibility, testing, or development of new projects or processes
• Provide bill of materials for assigned jobs
• Maintain and update all internal and external drawings in computer system
• Provide customer quotes, and Work Center routings
• Complete Engineering Change Notices, as needed
• Attend project kick off meetings as necessary to assist in the planning of large or unique jobs
• Monitor assigned jobs and report problems with lead times, quality or overages as they become apparent
• Ensure that customer communication is maintained throughout design process whenever necessary to reduce ambiguity and enhance clarity of design
• Travel as required to customer and/or vendor sites or seminars/training. See Employee Handbook for Travel Policies.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.

• Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design is required
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years drafting experience with 3D software is preferred
• SolidWorks experience preferred
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with Microsoft Word, and Excel
• Experience in machine/automation design is preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• A working knowledge of materials, components, machining techniques and new technology is required
